Field Service Welder - Cornwall

Chepstow Plant International are seeking to employ an experienced welder to join the company's growing field service team, with the position based around Devon / Cornwall. The ideal candidate would have experience and/or knowledge of the quarrying industry with a formal engineering qualification in welding. The job will report directly into the company's Head of Field Service.

Job Roles / Duties:

  • Repair of heavy-duty quarrying equipment, including excavators, articulated haulers, wheel loaders, bulldozers etc. from industry leading brands such as Volvo, Caterpillar and Komatsu to a very high standard
  • Maintain and repair buckets, attachments, bodywork, blades, undercarriage and other components
  • Aid in forecasting wear of critical wear components through regular inspections and reporting.
  • Ability to carry out jobs on-site under time pressures to get assets back to work
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Assist and coach colleagues with support, where necessary
  • Accurate completion of paperwork on a daily basis
  • Complete daily timesheets and job cards, detailing the works undertaken
  • Carry out all in work line with the company's core health, safety and environmental policies and safe working practices
  • Highlight to management where additional works may be required

Requirements:

  • NVQ or time served welder, in mig, gas and MMA
  • Relevant experience in welding, fabricating panels
  • Experience in maintaining heavy quarrying / mining / construction equipment
  • Experience with Tier 4 and 5 engines, regen and Ad-blue systems
  • Proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drivelines, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
  • Work a cost-conscious mindset
  • Complete dynamic risk assessments and method statements prior to commencing any work
  • Quick learner and able to work from your own initiative
  • Willingness to attend internal and external training courses
  • Basic report writing and computer skills
